Tsang Tak-sing to attend Buddhist forum

*

Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing will attend the 2nd World Buddhist Forum in Wuxi and Taipei in his capacity as the head delegate of Hong Kong and Macau Buddhism from March 26 to April 2.

Mr Tsang will attend the forum opening ceremony on March 28 in Wuxi followed by the closing ceremony in Taipei on April 1.

He will exchange views with Buddhists from the Mainland, Taiwan and Macau, and deliver a speech on March 31. He will return to Hong Kong April 2.

Commenting on Mr Tsang's visit, Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Stephen Lam said the Government adopts a positive and proactive attitude towards promoting Hong Kong-Taiwan exchanges and relations.

The Trade Development Council has set up an office in Taipei and Hong Kong will host the first Hong Kong-Taiwan intercity forum with Taichung city by mid-April.

He said senior Government officials will visit Taiwan provided they have a suitable agenda and in suitable capacities.
