Three Mass Transit Railway trains decorated in East Asian Games livery started service today to publicise the sports spectacular being held in Hong Kong in December.
Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing inspected one of the trains at the Chai Wan MTR Depot. The trains feature a collage of games mascots Dony and Ami, and 23 competition events.
To further publicise the event giant signboards will be displayed along North Lantau Highway from next week, and a huge wall banner has been erected in the new arrival hall at Lo Wu Control Point.
A new round of East Asian Games roving exhibitions started this month and tour through 36 District Offices, Leisure & Cultural Services Department venues and nine major shopping arcades.
Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games Promotion Programme for Schools launched this month in which more than 450 secondary and primary school teachers and students will organise activities to promote the games.
A 200-day countdown activity will be held in May with a 100-day countdown torch relay in August.
