Girl, 11, infected with EV-71
*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed an Enterovirus-71 infection in an 11-year-old girl.

She saw private doctors for fever, ulcers in a mouth and a rash over her hands and feet on October 6. She was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital on October 9 and discharged on October 14.

She had no recent travel history and her home contacts have no symptoms. The primary school she attends has no hand-foot-mouth disease cases.

There have been 85 EV71 infection cases so far this year. Last year there were 35.
