There were 282,932 social security assistance cases with 474,429 recipients in September, down 0.2% on August, the Social Welfare Department says.

The number of jobless receiving comprehensive social security assistance fell 0.3% to 31,022 cases, while low-earnings and single-parent groups fell 1.3% and 0.5% to 16,197 and 36,148.
