*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed the year's third Streptococcus suis infection case, involving a 71-year-old Kowloon City woman.

She came down with fever and headache on August 16 and was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. She is stable.

She had no recent travel history and her home contacts have no symptoms.

Hong Kong recorded six streptococcus infections last year, eight in 2006 and 13 in 2005. For more information on the illness click here.
