2 men treated for Dengue fever

*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection urges the public to guard against Dengue fever following the confirmation of two recent imported cases.

One involved a 25-year-old man who travelled to Bangladesh June 15 to August 5, while the other involved a 19-year-old man who returned from Thailand August 4. The former was treated while abroad and upon his return, while the latter was admitted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital on August 9 and was discharged yesterday.

Twenty-one imported Dengue fever cases have been reported so far this year. Fifty-eight were reported in 2007 - all imported.

Dengue fever information can be downloaded here. For advisories on Dengue fever in other places see Outbreak News here.
