Cultural district authority ready this year
*

Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing has hailed lawmakers' endorsement of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority Bill. He expects the authority can be formed this year.

He told reporters today the bill gives the authority a legal framework and enables it to operate with high transparency, accountability and efficiency. The Government will seek funding from lawmakers tomorrow to take the cultural district project forward, he added.

On the authority's membership, Mr Tsang said it can be headed by an official or a citizen.
