Enhanced HK-Japan cultural ties urged
*

Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Carrie Yau has called for strengthened collaboration on cultural exchange between Hong Kong and Japan.

Visiting the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa today Mrs Yau said she wants to forge closer cultural links with Japan through collaboration projects like the loaning of collections and exchange of professional personnel.

During her stay in Japan she will visit museums of modern and contemporary art in Tokyo and the National Diet Library to learn about their management and operation. She will also call on the Agency for Cultural Affairs to learn about the country's cultural policy.

Mrs Yau will introduce the West Kowloon Cultural District project to her Japanese counterparts and share experience with them in developing an integrated district for cultural, residential and commercial use.
