Hongkong Post Office

Hongkong Post has raised $1.36 million for Sichuan earthquake victims at its auction of stamp products and banknotes.

A total bid value of $1 million was received at today's auction conducted by Sotheby's Hong Kong. Together with donations of over $160,000 from Hongkong Post staff and $200,000 from Sotheby's Hong Kong, a total of $1.36 million will be donated to the Home Affairs Department for emergency relief operations in the province.

Postmaster General Tam Wing-pong thanked Sotheby's for making the auction a success, and generous people for purchasing the auctioned stamp items.
