The Department of Health warns people not to buy or consume two slimming and four anti-impotence products containing an undeclared drug ingredient with potentially serious side effects.

The distributors have been ordered to recall the products and retailers have been instructed to remove them from shelves.

The slimming products are Kartien and Kartien Easy to Slim, which contain sibutramine and its analogue N-desmethylsibutramine. Sibutramine can cause increased blood pressure and heart rate.

The other products are Armstrong Natural Herbal Supplement, Power 58 Extra, Platinum Power 58 Extra and Enhanix New Extra Men's Formula, which contain vardenafil analogue, tadalafil or tadalafil analogue, which can lower blood pressure to dangerous levels if they interact with nitrates found in prescription drugs.
