So far, 21 athletes will represent Hong Kong in the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, competing in eight events, Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Carrie Yau says.

Speaking at the 100-day countdown ceremony to the Paralympic Games today, Mrs Yau said the city was honoured to be one of the Olympic co-host cities to stage the Equestrian Events. The Government will ensure the events run smoothly.

Hong Kong Paralympic Committee & Sports Association for the Physically Disabled Chairman Jenny Fung said 16 students from eight special schools have been selected as Student Ambassadors for the Beijing Paralympics.

Mrs Fung said they would leave for Beijing to experience the first Paralympics in China and support Hong Kong athletes.
