Girl ill with Enterovirus-71
*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed a case of Enterovirus-71 infection involving a four-year-old girl, bringing the year's total to 14.

The Tseung Kwan O kindergarten the girl attends has been advised to suspend classes for two weeks for thorough cleansing and disinfection as its eight students developed symptoms of hand-foot-mouth disease April 23 to May 5.

The girl has come down with fever, oral ulcers and blisters on her hands and feet since May 2. They sought treatment from private doctors and none required hospitalisation.

There were 12 cases last year, 16 and eight cases in 2006 and 2005. For more information click here or call 2833 0111.
