10 ill in flu-like illness outbreaks
*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has received three reports of flu-like illness outbreaks involving two primary schools in Central & Western District and Sha Tin, and a Wong Tai Sin child care centre, affecting 10 people.

Two patients have been admitted to hospital. The four Central & Western District primary school students tested positive for influenza-B.

Flu-like illness may be caused by influenza or other respiratory viruses. The centre's officers have visited these institutions and provided health advice to the staff.

Meanwhile, no report was received today under the flu surveillance arrangement set up with private and public hospitals.
