9 students checked for flu-like illness

*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has received two influenza-like illness outbreak reports involving nine children aged three to nine from SKH Kei Yan Primary School in Sheung Wan and the Salvation Army Lai Chi Kok Nursery School.

Three boys and a girl were from the primary school while two boys and three girls were from the nursery school. They did not require hospitalisation and the schools have been given health advice.

Meanwhile, no report was received today under the flu surveillance arrangement set up by the centre with hospitals.

Flu-like illness can be caused by flu or other respiratory viruses. The public must stay vigilant by taking precautionary measures against flu. For more prevention tips, click here.
