Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed a Streptococcus suis infection involving a 49-year-old Wong Tai Sin man, bringing the year's total cases to two.

He came down with fever and vomiting on March 27 and was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital the next day.

Hong Kong recorded six Streptococcus suis infections last year, eight in 2006 and 13 in 2005. More details on the disease and its prevention can be found here.
