4 kindergarten students get adenoviruses

Four students of a Yau Ma Tei kindergarten have adenovirus infections. The kindergarten has suspended classes for a week for disinfection as its 47 students and one staff have taken sick leave.

 

The two boy and two girls aged four to six are still in hospitals in stable condition, the Centre for Health Protection said today. 

 

Adenovirus is a group of viruses that commonly cause viral infections in children. The symptoms may vary from respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat to gastroenteritis illnesses such as vomiting and diarrhoea There may be associated conjunctivitis.

 

Adenovirus infection is usually transmitted by direct contact or fecal-oral transmission. It can occur throughout the year. For more details, click here.
