Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing has called for business sector's active support for social enterprises and hoped there will be more such projects in future.
Mr Tsang said today the Government has put additional resources to introduce ways to promote social enterprise's establishment and development.
Newly launched by the Home Affairs Department, the Social Enterprise Partnership Programme enhances cross-sectoral collaboration through a matching forum and mentorship scheme to promote social enterprise development.
The matching forum will provide opportunities for business and non-governmental organisations to work together to set up social enterprises. Businesses can sign up as mentors to provide professional advice to such enterprises.
Mr Tsang said the Government will promote social enterprise in a new television/radio advertisement, set up a new dedicated website and stage exhibitions.
It is also compiling a social enterprise directory for release in the second quarter to list their products, services and contacts.
At the 'Road to Green: Striving for a Young New World' social enterprise kick-off ceremony today Mr Tsang praised the scheme for promoting environmental protection while encouraging young people to build confidence and contribute to society.
