Secretary for Development Carrie Lam says a three-month publicity drive on heritage conservation will launch on January 15.
Mrs Lam today told lawmakers that roving exhibitions will be held in the Heritage Discovery Centre and seven shopping centres from mid-January to mid-March.
The Buildings under the Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme will open to the public.
The Government will also invite organisations to hold induction tours to help citizens understand more about the city's heritage.
Revitalising scheme
In a Legislative Council paper today the Development Bureau said it has worked out details of the Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme.
Applicants will be invited to submit proposals on the seven buildings - Old Tai Po Police Station, Lui Seng Chun, Lai Chi Kok Hospital, North Kowloon Magistracy, Old Tai O Police Station, Fong Yuen Study Hall and Mei Ho House.
Upon approval of successful applications the historic buildings will have to be renovated in accordance with the proposals received.
Financial aid
The Government has earmarked $1 billion under the Capital Works Reserve Fund to provide financial support for the scheme.
A separate sum of $100 million for five years has already been set aside in the general revenue account to help operate the scheme.
The bureau will invite applications next month and will arrange open days for interested non-profit-making organisations to view the historic buildings.
