Swim safety: The Leisure & Cultural Services Department is providing a shallow zone in Yuen Long Swimming Pool's heated main pool.

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department today launched a trial scheme providing a shallow zone in Yuen Long Swimming Pool's heated main pool.

The department has erected a temporary platform in the pool's first lane and reduced water depth to 1.1 metres. A railing has been erected along the edge of the lane to segregate swimmers so some can use the shallow zone.

The trial will run until March 31. The department will evaluate the results and decide whether the scheme should be extended to other pools.
