Health chief to visit Beijing for food-safety forum
*

Secretary for Food & Health Dr York Chow will leave for Beijing to attend an international food-safety forum on November 26 and 27.

The forum is jointly organised by the World Health Organisation, the Ministry of Health and the State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection & Quarantine.

Dr Chow will exchange views and experience in handling food safety issues with senior officials from other countries and international organisations.

They will also discuss ways to strengthen international co-operation in enhancing food safety.

Dr Chow will speak on the second day about food-safety management, outlining the Government's strategy and measures to safeguard Hong Kong's food safety.

He will also meet Canadian Minister of Health Tony Clement to exchange views on public-health issues.

Dr Chow will return to Hong Kong on November 27.
