Health highlight: Vice-Minister of Health Huang Jiefu, Dr Cheng Yu-tung and Hospital Authority Chairman Anthony Wu witness the signing of the community medicine pact.
*

The Hospital Authority has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Health Dr Cheng Yu Tung Foundation to help train Mainland expertise in community medicine.

In 2006 the ministry said future healthcare should emphasise disease prevention rather than the traditional hospital-based model with special focus on development of healthcare policy management and community healthcare training.

The three-component training course comprises the Building of Community Primary Health, Advanced General-Family Medicine, and concluding seminars after the completion of courses.

The ministry will be responsible for the recruitment of trainees, while the authority is the base for the provision of training.
