*
HPC logo (Eng version)

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed three imported Dengue fever cases, involving two men and a woman, bringing the year's total to 34.

A 39-year-old man and a 25-year-old man, both working in Macau, came down with Dengue fever symptoms in mid-August. The former was admitted to Tuen Mun Hospital on August 20 and discharged August 24. The latter sought treatment from the same hospital on August 17 and has recovered.

A 27-year-old Tsuen Wan woman travelled to Indonesia August 5 to 19 and developed symptoms on August 20. She attended Yan Chai Hospital's Accident & Emergency Department three days later and is now in stable condition. Her four home contacts have no symptoms.

The centre will issue letters to doctors informing them of the recent Dengue fever situation in the region and alert hospitals to maintain vigilance.

The Department of Health will enhance health education on the disease. It has also liaised with the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department to maintain a high level of mosquito control measures in Hong Kong.
