Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed brucellosis infection in a 56-year-old Tsuen Wan man and his wife.

He came down with fever, headache, malaise and urinary symptoms in May. He was admitted to Yan Chai Hospital twice between May 31 and June 15 and is now in stable condition.

His 54-year-old wife developed similar symptoms and was admitted to Yan Chai Hospital on July 13. She was discharged July 18.

They travelled to Guangzhou for two days in April.

Their family members have no symptoms.

Three brucellosis cases were reported in 2006 and one in 2005.
