The Department of Health urged AMO Complete MoisturePlus contact lens solution consumers to stop using the product following a recall by its manufacturer, Advanced Medical Optic.

It follows reports of Acanthamoeba keratitis cases, a rare but serious infection of the cornea, in the US.

Users should consult their doctor if they have eye pain, redness, blurred vision, sensitivity to light, sensation of something in the eye and excessive tearing or other symptoms.

The department is closely monitoring the recall and will liaise with the Hospital Authority and doctors.
