Scrambling competition to use replica buns
*
Leisure & Cultural Services Department

This year's traditional Lunar New Year Bun Scrambling Competition on Cheung Chau will use replica buns to improve the safety of the event.

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department said replicas would be used because genuine buns are easily damaged and become slippery in rainy and humid conditions, endangering participants and hindering their performance.

However, as in previous years, three bun towers with real buns will still be erected on the basketball court in Pak Tai Temple. People can continue to collect these buns after the festival as they did before, and these towers will not be used in the competition.
