7,000 apply as Olympic volunteers
*

More than 7,000 people have applied for volunteer work at the 2008 Olympic Equestrian Events.

The Equestrian Company has so far interviewed 750 people who submitted their applications before December 22. It will select and notify 100 leader-volunteers by the first week of February. They will be given training in March.

Experienced Olympic events trainers from Australia will advise on the leader-volunteer programme.

Phase two of the recruitment will target universities, language and international schools, and retired civil servants.

The company is recruiting 1,800 volunteers to help ensure the equestrian events run smoothly. Click here to apply.
