Anti-rodent campaign to launch
*
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

A four-week publicity drive for the Anti-rodent Campaign 2007 will launch January 2. Old tenement buildings built before 1970 and without management companies will be targeted.

Food & Environmental Hygiene Department Pest Control Officer-in-charge Yuen Ming-chi said although the rodent problem is not serious and the rodent infestation rate fell from 4.4% in 2005 to 2.9% this year, there should be no slackening in rodent prevention.

He said poor environmental hygiene and structural defects in buildings can influence the degree of rodent infestation.

He urged people to continue their efforts in rodent control and take preventive measures. For anti-rodent tips, visit the department's website or call 2868 0000.
