*
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department has shut down an illegal slaughterhouse in Yuen Long, arresting three men and seizing about 400 kg of unstamped pig carcasses.

The en have been charged with operating a slaughterhouse without a licence, illegal slaughtering of food animals for human consumption and possessing prohibited food.

The department said it will continue to take stringent enforcement action against illegal slaughtering activities and sales of meat from an unapproved source.

Anyone who has doubts about meat being sold at retail outlets should call the department's hotline, 2868 0000.
