10 ill after hotel buffet
*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating two food poisoning reports involving 10 people who fell ill after eating at a Sha Tin hotel.

In the first case, seven men, aged 23 to 41, developed abdominal pain and diarrhoea after eating from the hotel restaurant's buffet on October 12. Two sought treatment from private doctors while two others went to hospital.

The second case involved two women and a man, aged 30 to 70, who came down with diarrhoea and vomiting after a buffet at the same restaurant on the same day. Two saw private doctors. All are in stable condition and none required hospitalisation.

Bacteria is the likely cause of the outbreak.
