Produce check: A Food & Environmental Hygiene Department officer inspects meat at a fresh provision shop in Tsuen Wan.
*

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department will consider cancelling the licences of four fresh provision shops in Tsuen Wan for suspected meat sale malpractices.

The department's officers today inspected seven shops on Ho Pui, Tai Uk, San Tsuen, Wo Tik and Chuen Lung Streets.

Two were suspected to be selling frozen or chilled pork as fresh produce. About 440kgs of meat was marked and sealed for further investigation.

One shop was found keeping about 680kgs of frozen pork without approval, while another failed to post a notice that chilled meat was available for sale.

Other irregularities included incomplete records of meat invoices or delivery notes, failure to store chilled meat in a refrigerator and dirty food premises.
