Wholesale market trading remains normal
*
AFCD

Trading in the Cheung Sha Wan Wholesale Food Market has remained normal since the need for people and vehicles to register on entry was introduced on Monday, the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department says.

There has not been any notable change in the number of people and vehicles entering the market, the department said, adding on average 4,600 people and 2,900 vehicles entered the market each day.

The department's director Stella Hung met traders' representatives today and exchanged views on the measures to strengthen the market's management control.

The department said the new measures aimed to combat the landing and distribution of freshwater fish without health certificates as well as other criminal activity there.

The measures will soon be extended to other wholesale markets the department supervises.
