Civil celebrant applications open
*
Immigration Department

The Registrar of Marriages has started inviting applications from people who would like to be appointed civil celebrants, the Immigration Department says.

Solicitors and public notaries meeting the eligibility criteria for civil celebrants specified in the Marriage Ordinance are eligible to apply.

After receipt of the applications and on a first-come, first-served basis, the Registrar will invite those applicants who have satisfied the eligibility criteria to attend a training course it will organise.

Application forms can be downloaded from the department's website. Details are provided in a pamphlet entitled How to Apply - Becoming a Civil Celebrant of Marriages, which are distributed at the department's Information & Liaison Section, the Marriage Registration & Records Office or any of its marriage registries; the Law Society of Hong Kong; or the Hong Kong Society of Notaries.
