Man ill with Legionnaires' disease

*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed the year's first Legionnaires' disease case, involving a 68-year-old Tuen Mun man.

He got a fever and cough on January 29 and was admitted to Tuen Mun Hospital. He was discharged on February 14 and has recovered. His family have no symptoms.

Since the man has no recent travel history, the case has been classified local.

There were 11 cases recorded last year and three in 2004. The figures for 2000 to 2003 were two, three, four and three.
