Butcher found selling chilled pork as fresh
*
fresh provision shop
Caught out: A fresh provision shop at Tsing Ho Square in Tuen Mun has been found selling chilled pork as fresh pork.
*

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department will consider cancelling the licence of a fresh provision shop at Tsing Ho Square in Tuen Mun as the operator has been found selling chilled meat as fresh meat.

During an operation concluded early this morning, the department's officers found a vehicle had delivered imported chilled pork from the airport to the concerned fresh provision shop late last night.

Early this morning, a female worker took out the chilled pork, which was later displayed on the meat table and sold as fresh pork.

A total of 420 kgs of imported chilled pork in 15 foam boxes was found in the shop.

The department warned all fresh provision shop and market stall operators not to sell chilled meat as fresh meat, or they would risk having their licences/tenancy agreements cancelled or terminated.

Anyone who has doubts about meat being sold at retail outlets should call 2868 0000.
