11 ill in Happy Valley food poisoning
*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a food poisoning case involving 11 people who ate at a buffet in a Happy Valley hotel on October 27.

The nine men and two women aged 18 to 45 developed diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea, fever and vomiting after eating there.

Six sought medical treatment from private doctors and the rest went to hospitals. All of them are stable and have not been hospitalised.

Initial investigations suggest bacterial contamination is the likely cause. Investigation is in progress.

The public, especially food handlers, should observe good personal and environmental hygiene to prevent food-borne diseases. For more food safety tips, click here.
