First imported cholera case confirmed

*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed an imported cholera case involving a 25-year-old woman, bringing the year's total to three.

She fell ill in Indonesia on August 3, arrived in Hong Kong August 5 and was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital. Her condition is stable.

Of the three cases, one has been classified local and another imported while the remaining one is pending classification.

To prevent cholera and food-borne diseases, observe good personal, food and environmental hygiene, particularly when travelling outside Hong Kong. For details click here. For information on disease outbreaks in other countries, click here.
