The Leisure & Cultural Services Department has been working quickly to deal with any fouling of water at public pools.
It said today that when reports are received, staff immediately evacuate and temporarily close the affected pool to remove the contaminants. The residual chlorine level of water is then raised for an hour or more to disinfect the pool.
Staff keep swimmers well informed of incidents and follow-up measures via public announcements and notices at pools.
It urged to swimmers to keep the pools clean and to promptly report any contaminants, and warned polluting public pool water warrants a $2,000 fine and 14 days jail.
