Pool hygiene hotline launches
*
Leisure & Cultural Services Department

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department will launch its swimming pool hotline 2601 6801 from 9am on June 15 to gauge views on hygiene.

A special inspection team will visit pools and beaches to check the cleanliness of facilities and changing room security. They will also contact swimmers and listen to their views on hygiene and security.

Swimmers should follow rules and maintain good hygiene. The Public Swimming Pool Regulations under the Public Health & Municipal Services Ordinance stipulates it is an offence to pollute the water in public pools, and offenders are liable to a $2,000 fine and 14 days jail.

The department adopts a zero-tolerance approach towards illicit photo-taking activities in changing rooms, and cases will be referred to Police.
