P5 student wins carnival design contest

Primary five student Fok Ken-long has been named the International Arts Carnival Graphic Design Competition overall winner and the primary school section winner. Form seven student Joanna Tse has become the winner of the secondary school section.

 

Overall winner Fok Ken-long's design is outstanding and full of childlike simplicity.The composition of the poster is clean yet successfully brings out the theme of an international fun-filled carnival.

Creative, colourful: Winning designs, including those by Fok Ken-long (left) and Joanna Tse (right) will go on display at the Cultural Centre in July.


 

Secondary school section winner Joanna Tse's design is skillful and mature.The brilliant colours blend well with the cartoon characters, adding a festive atmosphere to the poster.

 

Organised by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, the competition attracted 1,765 entries - 1,285 entries from the primary section and 480 entries from the secondary section.

 

The winners, the first runners-up, second runners-up and outstanding entries in the two sections will each be awarded a trophy and book voucher. Results of the competition are:

First Runner-up: Stephanie Dorothy Yu, Diocesan Girls' School

Second Runner-up: Lam Wai-lam, Kiangsu - Chekiang College (Sha Tin)

Outstanding Entries:

1. Au Wing-shan, Po Leung Kuk Mrs. Ma Kam Ming - Cheung Fook Sien College

2. Li Wai-chong, Baptist Lui Ming Choi Secondary School

3. Cheung Sin-yi, Baptist Lui Ming Choi Secondary School

4. Lee Hon-fung, School of Creativity

5. Joanna Tse, Henrietta Secondary School

 

Primary School Section

Winner: Fok Ken-long, St Joseph Anglo Chinese Primary School

First Runner-up: Wong Yin-ting, Little Star Workshop

Second Runner-up: Yu Ching-nga, Tuen Mun Government Primary School

Outstanding Entries:

1. Angie Chan, Christian Alliance International School

2. Yon Jun-ju, Heep Yunn Primary School

3. Tan Ning-sang, Yellow House Children's Art Programme

4. Leung Pak-yuen, St Antonius Primary School

5. Tai Long-yat, Chun Yin Art Studio

 

All winning designs, together with other selected entries can be viewed on www.hkiac.gov.hk. They will also be displayed in the Cultural Centre Foyer during the festival from July 7 to 25.
