A light refreshment restaurant in Tuen Mun was closed today for two weeks after repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.
The eatery, at the ground floor of 21 Kai Fat Path, was ordered to suspend business for from today to January 24.
The shop's licensee was convicted twice for preparing food in an open space in March and September, 2003.
He was fined a total of $4,000 and had 15 demerit points registered against him under the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department's demerit points system, resulting in the suspension of his shop licence for seven days from December 10 to 16, 2003.
Last October, he was convicted for failing to store open food in a proper manner and using open space to prepare food. He was also convicted for knowingly suffering or permitting the presence of cockroaches on the premises in November, 2003.
He was fined a total of $5,500 for the three convictions and another 15 demerit points were registered against him, leading to the current 14-day suspension.
Food premises licensees must strictly comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences may be suspended or even cancelled.
