A Kowloon City food factory has been closed for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.
The Food & Environmental Hygiene director ordered owners of the business, Shop B on the ground floor of 78-80 Ng Tsin Wai Road to suspend operations from today to January 24.
The shop's licensee has been convicted twice for unauthorised extension of its business outside the licensed area, in November 2003 and July 2004.
He was fined a total of $5,700 and had 15 demerit points registered against him under the department's demerit points system. That led to the suspension of his shop licence for seven days, from October 13 to 19 last year.
In July last year, he was convicted for unauthorised extension of food business outside the licensed area and having a scullery at a rear lane outside the food premises. He was fined a total of $4,800 for the two convictions, and another 15 demerit points were registered, leading to the current 14-day suspension.
Food premises licensees are reminded to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences may be suspended or even cancelled.
