Gov't welcomes Ombudsman's probe
*

The Ombudsman's probe into the reaction of departments to the problem of bloodworms in swimming pools has been welcomed by the Government, which hopes the move will help improve inter-departmental co-ordination.

Permanent Secretary for Health, Welfare & Food Carrie Yau said today the public expect the Government to provide good and hygienic swimming facilities, and the relevant departments are trying their best to achieve this goal.

She reiterated the Government's pledge to maintain a high degree of transparency in the bloodworm investigation and to keep the public informed of the latest developments.

The Government will fully co-operate with the Ombudsman's probe, she added.

Meanwhile, the Jockey Club Yan Oi Tong Swimming Pool in Tuen Mun will be closed temporarily as suspected bloodworms have been found. Thorough inspection and cleaning will be conducted.
