Australian radiology specialists have confirmed that the Yuen Long crocodile's x-rays are normal and the reptile has no chest infection, Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden says.
The Australian experts told Kadoorie veterinarians that the lung pattern shown on the crocodile's x-rays is considered normal for a crocodile, though in other animals it might suggest an abnormality.
To help evaluate the crocodile's health condition, the Kadoorie vets took a series of x-rays. The preliminary findings suggested it might have a chest infection.
However, since there are few references on crocodile radiology available in the world, the x-rays were sent to radiology specialists in Australia for a second opinion.
Kadoorie vets have no specific concerns about the crocodile's health, and say that it can come out of quarantine in about six weeks.
The garden's animal rescue team will continue to closely monitor the reptile's health and behaviour and will perform health checks when necessary.
