No shark found at Repulse Bay
*
Leisure & Cultural Services Department

After a thorough search by Police and the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, no shark has been found off Repulse Bay.

Reports were made to Police yesterday and today that a shark-like-object had been seen. But as no shark has been sighted by officials, it has been considered unnecessary to hoist warnings at the beach.

Shark protection nets serve Repulse Bay and 29 other beaches managed by the department. They are checked regularly.

Contingency plans are in place should a shark be sighted. Beach staff will immediately advise swimmers to leave the water, and shark warning flags and red flags will be hoisted informing people the beach is not suitable for swimming.

The department urged people who see shark-like-objects in waters off gazetted beaches to immediately report it lifeguards on duty or Police.
