The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed the first imported case of enterovirus-71 involving a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, bringing this year's total cases to 13.
The girl was in Shenzhen when she developed a fever and mouth pain with a tongue ulcer on May 28. She was admitted to Queen Mary Hospital on May 31 and discharged on June 2.
The Guangdong Department of Health has been informed of the case.
The centre urged people to guard against infection and maintain good personal and environmental hygiene.
