New enterovirus case confirmed

*
Department of Health

The Department of Health has confirmed an enterovirus-71 infection involving a two-year-old girl, bringing this year's total to seven.

The girl came down with a fever, developed a rash over her limbs and oral lesions on May 15. She has now recovered.

The department said the case was related to two earlier confirmed cases of hand, foot and mouth disease in the same creche. None of the children with the disease in this outbreak has developed complications and all have recovered.

The department also called on the public to stay alert to the threat of enterovirus infection and take precautionary measures.  For details, call the department's health education hotline 2833 0111 or click here.
