The Hong Kong Observatory dropped all rainstorm warning signals at 11am.
The Education & Manpower Bureau had announced this morning that as the red rainstorm warning was in force, morning schools and whole-day schools would be suspended today.
It also reminded school management to keep their premises open and implement contingency measures to look after arriving students. Parents were advised they did not need to collect their children from schools immediately.
They were also advised not to take their children or family members to child care centres, elderly services centres and day rehabilitation units including sheltered workshops and day activity centres.
These centres remained open to serve those whose families could not provide alternative care for them.
All courts closed
The Judiciary also announced that all courts, tribunals, court registries and offices would be closed today.
The Vocational Training Council announced that all Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Examinations and Insurance Intermediaries Qualifying Examinations scheduled between 9am to 6pm today have been cancelled.
However, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, the VTC School of Business and Information Systems, all development centres and training centres will be open for afternoon and evening sessions as usual.
All internal examinations to be held at the above premises and classes for Information Technology Assistant Training Programme in the morning have been postponed.
However, those to be held in the afternoon and evening will continue as usual. All skills centres for the disabled will be closed all day.
The Hong Kong Observatory issued yellow and red rainstorm warning signals at 4.10am and 6.40am. A black warning signal was issued at 7.20am and was replaced by a red one at 8am.
The observatory replaced the red one with a yellow warning at 10.15am and dropped all the rainstorm warnings at 11am.
