Four glazed pots, which were discovered in Mongkok, will be displayed at the Museum of History from tomorrow until May 31. Admission is free.
The four flat-bottomed pots were unearthed from a drainage improvement work site at the junction of Tung Choi Street and Soy Street in Mongkok yesterday.
The Antiquities & Monuments Office said the four ancient pots are in perfect condition. A preliminary examination suggests that they were burial artefacts of the Jin Dynasty (265 - 420).
"It is rare that ancient artifacts of such good conditions were unearthed in an urban area in Hong Kong," the office added.
The Museum of History is located at 100 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. It opens from 10am to 6pm from Monday to Saturday, and from 10am to 7pm on Sundays and public holidays. It is closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays).
For enquiries, contact the museum at 2724 9042 or the office at 2721 2326.
