Poultry stall tenancy terminated
*
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department reminds live poultry outlet owners to observe Rest Day conditions or face the nullification of tenancies or licences.

The appeal was made after department officers found a stall in Ngau Tau Kok Market which had not slaughtered all unsold live poultry before the Rest Day today.

During an inspection last night, officers found 51 live chickens in the stall which was unattended at the time. Despite a reminder by the officers to slaughter the chickens immediately, the tenant did not return.

The department terminated the tenancy as the stall keeper failed to comply with Rest Day conditions which state retailers must slaughter all live birds remaining on their premises before the Rest Day, and suspend business to conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection of the stall.
