Avian flu

Next poultry outlet rest day this Saturday
*
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

The next rest day for poultry stalls is April 10, the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department says.

Live poultry will still be on sale that morning, but none will be sold from noon until the next morning.

On rest days, market poultry stall and fresh provision shop operators have to slaughter all live birds remaining on their premises before noon, and suspend business in the afternoon and evening to conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection.

The department will inspect each poultry outlet and failure to comply with rest day conditions will lead to immediate cancellation of licences or termination of market stall tenancies.

All poultry stall retailers are urged to strictly observe rest day conditions. Stall owners and licensees are also reminded not to remove any live birds from their premises to avoid slaughtering of unsold live poultry before the start of the rest day.
